2013-08 Warbirds, Millville AAF Museum

In August of 2013, a touring group of restored World War II airplanes visited the Millville Air Field. During the war, Millville was an Army Air Force training base, so they had some exhibits and memorabilia dedicated to that part of the place’s history. I enjoyed seeing the B-17 and B-24 bombers. While touring inside of them, I never fail to marvel at the relatively tiny little aluminum tubes that these 19- and 20- year old boys flew in over France and Germany, and how cramped and frightening they must have been. You get a new appreciation of all the brave fliers, really on both sides, when you see that.
