August, 2012 – We took a quickie vaca down to Chincoteague/Assateague Island with Kamryn. We were too late to see the horses swim across the channel, and it rained most of the weekend as well, but the campground had a menagerie, if not a zoo, of other animals, and Kamryn loved meeting them all and exploring the grounds. I bicycled into town on Saturday after our Friday arrival, because we somehow forgot to bring food along. Except for cereal. Our campground was relatively nice, with large pines shading the sites.
When we arrived, there were hardly any other campers, but that soon changed. By Saturday morning, the place was pretty full. On Saturday afternoon, we got a short break from the rain, and walked around the CG exploring the animals, Kamryn loved the mini horses and peacocks, and made friends with a family of large black swans. The llamas were cute, and loved having their pictures taken. Sunday afternoon, we packed up and headed home. This was a short little 2-hour drive from home, nothing very special about the route. I wish we’d have had better weather.
