2019-07 Massey’s Landing Park

In July of 2019, we took a short trip down into Delaware to stay at an RV/Family Resort near Bethany Beach. The grandkids were there with their extended family already, and it was decided that when we got there in the RV, they’d set up a couple of tents on our site and we’d just be one big happy family… yeah, right.

The wife and I loaded up the RV and headed out on a Wednesday, and arrived at the CG with no issues early in the afternoon. It was blazingly hot, and the RV spots were arrayed on a wide open, flat lot with no shade or relief from the sun. But we hooked up, opened the awnings, and turned on the AC Full Blast. Jon, Alyssa, and their combined four kids found us, and we sat in the RV to cool off.  Then we headed to the pool for the better part of the afternoon, where it was a lot cooler and wetter.

Thursday was more of the same, and we got hit with the not-unexpected summer thundershower in the evening, so I magnanimously suggested that we all bunk down in the RV rather than subject either kids or adults to the soaking in a tent outside. We put a movie in the DVD player and had a family movie night, enjoyed by all. “Second Hand Lions”, starring Robert Duvall and Michael Caine. The rain ended around midnight.  During the day everybody enjoyed the pool,  Kamryn loved driving around in the golf cart and Jeremy and Jordon rode their bikes all over the place as well. We did a big camp fire on Friday night.

We spent Friday at the pool again, and then headed home Saturday around noon, bringing Jeremy and Kamryn home with us, so that Jon and Alyssa weren’t so cramped in their truck with all four kids and all the camping gear they came down with.

On the way home, I asked Melissa to take some shots out the windshield as we crossed up and over the cable-stay Veterans Memorial Highway bridge along DE Route 1.
