From Darwin, the gals zig-zagged their way up through all the South Sea islands, and came to shore in Brunei, where they toured the Sultan’s Palace among other spots. Mom took pictures of the various tugboats and other vessels in the harbor.

Brunei is a tiny little spot on the larger island of Borneo, surrounded by the Malay state of Sarawak. Before independence, it was a British colony and protectorate. 90% Muslim and quite rich, thanks to a butt-load of oil and natural gas. Seems like a nice place, so long as you don’t misbehave.
