Dante's inferno
« on: May 22, 2012, 04:33:39 PM »

well, i suppose one could be forgiven for mistaking this sky for Dante's mythical depiction of the underworld! this was shot with my Panasonic FZ20, which really pulled out the reds and golds in any such scene... especially if i metered on the bright spots!  ;)

Nice Rocky...looks like a forest fire in California. But let me get this straight...did you or did you not just advise me to meter on something other than the brightest spots on order to get more of the foreground? I'm just bustin on ya....I like it a lot.

thanks, Cyn.  yep, you caught me. i did indeed advise you to meter on something other than the brightest spot to bring out some detail in the foreground. but i also violated that advice intentionally on this shot, specifically to make the sky appear darker and more fiery. in this shot, the sky is the point of the photo, and i wanted to emphasize the clouds and the colors...  ;)
