Does this qualify for HDR? I honestly don't know?
« on: May 15, 2012, 08:16:39 PM »

The image below was taken at an historic-type village in Union, Maine. What I did was shoot with a Fuji bridge camera that brackets 3 images up to +/- 2EV's.  I combined the 3 images by layering (again real simple--as I've been having a brainless night).  Can you consider the final image an HDR as processed? Please be honest.

Never let it be said that I spend all my time monitoring messages on this forum, it's only been three weeks since you asked me to look at it.  :)

I am by no means whatsoever an expert on HDR. I am not sure if what you posted would qualify as a 'true' HDR image, according to the people who make the rules.  I think that the HDR process involves more behind the scenes color, brightness, contrast, and highlight/shadow process than simply 'layering' three shots, as you admit you did. But then again, who am I to think I know more than Fuji when it comes to that kind of stuff.

It kinda looks like an HDR image, that has had only a minimal amount of tone mapping done to it.

I wouldn't sweat it. It's a nice shot.

Thank you Jim. Phew! I thought you monitored everything! LOL. I'm still uncovinced wheter it is or isn't HDR. Certainly if there 5 imagesof various light qualities it might be  more dramatic. Thank you for taking the time. It just seemed to easy for me to call HDR even though the principlep seemed akin to HDR.

Not sure it's HDR or not, because the detail isn't quite there that I see in most "HDR" images.
Not that it matters, cause it's a great shot!!!
