I had the same problem as well, back in the film days.

CYN:

You pose an interesting question. As someone, similar to you, who values education as a life-long activity, my reply may surprise you and others.

I enrolled in NYIP back in  the film days.  After a few months, the course was essentially proceeding towards being a "pro" photographer (studio) which I chose not to. Since that time a long ways back, the course has probably changed due to digital cameras.  In the end, the initial question for someone who demonstrates fine advanced amateur skills, what  do I want to learn about photography that I can't get from blogs, reading and perhaps photo workshops. Computer skills in various software have become essential. Yet it still gets back to that question mentioned above.

Best wishes for continued success.

Thanks Ray and Erv.

Ray it's grass, in Oregon it stays green almost all year long, because of how much rain we get.

Thanks Ray, I wish I had the patience to try and submit these. But having tried for a number of months with no luck, not sure it's worth all that stress.

Erv, hope the sun shines soon for you!!!

In MHO it does matter Cyn, tho to be truthful I'm not sure which is best. A long time ago when I was still shooting film, I found a clear glass filter of extremely good quality and had great results. However have never been able to find another one!

Cyn, I have found that my camera (Canon Xsi) over exposes in fairly bright light, so I set it to shoot 1/3 to 1/2 f stop underexposed.
So when I shoot on a really cloudy or in the shade I have to remember to change it back. And it doesn't seem to matter which lens I use either.
Just something to think about.

My personal opinion is that you captured the devastation quite well, tho some images are slightly over exposed they really show what power and destruction the storm had and did!! Well done Cyn!!!
