Wow! That brings back memories. Erv. I can remember when a couple local stations were having a price war and it got down to 10 cents.

I notice that on this pump a customer could only purchase $9.99 worth of gas. At the price set on the pump (67.9 cents), you could only buy 14.7 gallons before the "Amount of Sale" counter would roll over to zero.

Or did that first digit actually have the numbers 0 through 99 painted on it?
Or did everyone just have really small gas tanks back then? :)

It's been so long since I've seen a mechanical counter that I can't remember.  ???

i'm dating myself horribly, but i can remember under 30 cents, and when they had "price wars", sometimes it'd go below 20!!
