It's a bug Joe. :) Nice shot! Has good camo on the wall. Doing a nice job with your camera Joe. Really making it work.

I don't know what it is, but sure wouldn't want to meet up with it in a dark alley!

Found out that it is some type of fly. If I remember correctly this one is the male sex and is aprox 3.5 to 4.0 inches in length.

Thanks Erv, for every good photo it gives me I have about 10 that didn't turn out so well. I don't have an issue with non-moving objects. Now as for my daughter, out doors in good light no problem, but when we go inside, that is another story. I have different types of light throughout the whole house. I have to get more practice with shutter speed and ISO combinations, other wise I end up using a flash and get harsh shadows. Any how, I still like the camera, but can't wait for a dslr.

lol, You and me both! I almost didn't even see him, someone called him out and glad they did. He was in my favorite break area! They do bite when provoked and will draw blood.

Yeah... well... can't help ya out with the name of it, sorry!

Whew!
I have to say.... it's ugly!
The photo is FAB... but that's one creepy/ugly bug!

I love the composition here though... it blends right in with the surroundings.
I mean you could be out in your barefeet and step on it or something and never even have seen it!

You are correct about blending in. He was on the wall pretty close to were I lean at while taking a breather. A friend stopped me from doing so because I didn't see him. That could have sucked!

Hi Joe I found out what it is. I had one on the sidewalk the other night. Looks just like yours, only dead. :) Got on the web and look around. It is a Male Dobson fly. They are in lakes as a larvse and call Hellgrammites. They live in water for 2 years and then turn into this. The male has the big pinchers and the females are smaller. But only the female can pinch you to where it hurts. Fun to read about tho. You can go here to see more. :)
